Pottawattamie County, Iowa

Pottawattamie County is located in West Central Iowa, along the Missouri River. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Area. It was named for the Potawatomi Native American Tribe.

The seat and largest city are both Council Bluffs, the 7th largest city in Iowa. It borders Harrison, Shelby, Cass, Montgomery and Mills Counties in Iowa, as well as Sarpy, Douglas and Washington Counties in Nebraska.

Main highways include I-29, I-80, I-480, I-680, US-6, US-59, US-275 and IA-92.
